How to Conceal Under Eye Circles & Hyperpigmentation

Concealing both hyperpigmentation and dark under eyes is a challenge. To reduce the look of our model Richa’s main skin concerns, some coverage and corrective concealing techniques are needed.

Richa’s areas of hyperpigmentation give her complexion an uneven look. To start with an even canvas, Tinted Primer SPF 30 in dark is applied using the Dual Foundation/Camouflage Brush.

The primer preps the skin and adds light color, an ideal choice when color correction is involved. Choose the shade closest to your skin tone.

Since her skin is on the oily end of the spectrum and she prefers a buildable mineral powder foundation, we selected Pressed Base for her foundation. Two layers of Pressed Base in chestnut light are applied directly over the primer using the Dual Fiber Cheek Brush.

Find the right foundation for your skin type and select a shade that’s a match for your natural skin tone.

Color Correct

It’s important to apply your foundation before your concealer in this case. If your base provides sufficient coverage, you may not need to use as much concealer.

The next step is to address her dark under eyes. The deeper shade in Under Eye Concealer in honey is applied first with the Dual Fiber Eye Brush to cancel out any initial dark shadows. Then, using the same brush, I gently sweep the lighter shade of the same concealer on top for added coverage and brightness.

To reduce the look of Richa’s post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, I use Camouflage Oil Free in golden honey with the detailed end of the Dual Foundation/Camouflage Brush to spot treat. Apply the concealer directly to the hyperpigmentation.

Using the large end of the brush in a patting motion, the concealer is blended and worked into the Pressed Base application.

For lighter skin tones, use a peachy concealer or the natural shade from Corrective Camouflage kit to conceal dark circles and hyperpigmentation. Then, follow with a your usual concealer shade. Orange and blue are complementary colors, so they will cancel each other out.

Now that her complexion is even, dimension and brightness are added with Liquid Bright Concealer in sunburst. This corrective shade is designed to disguise dark spots and under eye circles, but on Richa it is also a great highlighter.

This is added to her upper jawline, upper cheekbones, center of her nose and chin. The concealer is then fused into her existing concealer and base, resulting in a brighter more uniform and even complexion.
