911! Remedies for a Wedding Day Blemish (Updated 2018)

Blemishes always seem to pop up at the worst time. It’s a common misconception that acne is just for teens as, unfortunately, adult acne is incredibly prevalent. Acne can be caused by a variety of factors including stress. It comes as no surprise that wedding planning stress could serve you with a wedding day blemish.

But, acne on your wedding day is not the end of the world! There are a variety of techniques to conceal and disguise unwanted blemishes. So, if you wake up on the morning of your special day with acne, keep calm and follow these coverage tips.

Prime

Primer should always be the first step to anyone’s makeup regimen, but when last minute blemishes are involved, make it a tinted primer. Tinted primer is a great idea for any bride that desires an even complexion.

The primer will not only extend the wearability of foundation and even out your complexion, but it also helps add a bit more coverage on areas that need it most. Always moisturize your skin and allow it to absorb before applying primer. Then you can start your mineral makeup application.

Cover

Choose to wear a foundation that provides buildable coverage for the big day. If any unexpected blemishes are visible, the foundation can be built up. Often times a full coverage foundation can adequately camouflage mild acne without help from mineral concealers and correctors. Play with the layers of makeup until you achieve complexion perfection.

Color Correct

A color correcting concealer along with an oil-free full coverage concealer that matches your complexion are the ideal combo to have close by. Red and green are complementary colors because they’re on opposite sides of the color wheel. Apply a mint green color corrector to your blemish before concealer to neutralize redness. Lightly apply a thin, even layer over the discolored areas only. On top of the corrector, apply concealer that’s the same shade as your skin. Apply sparingly, layering as needed for superior coverage.

Disguise

If the blemish is raised, it may stand out even after concealing. One method, recently popularized by Miley Cyrus, is to turn a zit into a beauty mark.

The best way to do this is to apply your foundation, color corrector and concealer first. Next, lightly dab a taupe or light brown brow pencil on the raised area to deposit color. When applying the color, start with a small, freckle-sized mark. Tap the color with your finger to gently sheer out the color until it looks natural.

A wax-based brow pencil will have more staying power than a creamy eyeliner, but don’t tempt fate! Keep your fingers away from your face so you don’t disrupt your masterpiece.

Try these remedies for wedding day blemishes to keep the focus on enjoying your big day.
